It was built circa 1800 and has been used for many major events of the Civil War. President Monroe is recorded to have been there and addressed the crowd below from the balcony. ![]() The Court Room and Ante Chamber once held the Federal Court during the Civil War and Judge Magrath renounced his allegiance to the United States upon the secession of South Carolina. These rooms can be perfectly utilized for receptions, meetings, luncheons, rehearsal dinners, and much more. Capacity for the Court Room is 85 seated, 150 standing and the Ante Chamber holds 32 seated, 50 standing. ![]() Next, the Drawing Rooms contain gorgeous antique furniture and paintings which bring history alive. There is also a porch for guests to enjoy outside these rooms. Capacity is limited to 90 seated, 150 standing in the East and West Drawing Rooms. ![]() Lastly, the Courtyard “is a hidden oasis in the heart of Charleston and is lovingly maintained by the Garden Club of Charleston.” It holds 100 guests and is perfect for an outdoor ceremony or reception.
