From 1906, the Woodland Mansion has been a beacon of joy and light for the community. It started as a family home for Robert Parsons and his family. During the Second World War, it was a place of entertainment for servicemen to come to and hold on to joy during such dire circumstances. The site held lavish parties which included dancing, singing, and even roller skating! How appropriate that it would remain a site for gorgeous events and gatherings today! “This rebirth allows Woodlands to continue its long and storied history of intimate gatherings and grand celebrations.” There are so many unique aspects of this venue; I am not going to go too in-depth with each of them, but here are a few:

It has been restored to accommodate weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate functions, engagements, birthdays, and any event imaginable. It was built circa 1800 and has been used for many major events of the Civil War. President Monroe is recorded to have been there and addressed the crowd below from the balcony. ![]() The Court Room and Ante Chamber once held the Federal Court during the Civil War and Judge Magrath renounced his allegiance to the United States upon the secession of South Carolina. These rooms can be perfectly utilized for receptions, meetings, luncheons, rehearsal dinners, and much more. Built in 1861, the mill has a rich history and is one of the only three original antebellum rice mills that still stand today in Charleston. This venue has a perfect view of the beautiful Ashley River which is an amazing backdrop to have for a truly Charleston style wedding. ![]() ”Classic design features include exposed brick, wide plank wood floors, large double windows, and pressed tin ceilings. The beautiful mahogany and marble bar is well suited for entertaining, while the adjacent dance floor area naturally lends itself to live music and dancing.” The building offers three options for a wedding ceremony, outdoor waterfront, under the oaks, and the marina room. The outdoor waterfront option is suitable for 150 people, under the oaks for 250 people, and the marina room for 80 people. ![]() There are also three options for the wedding reception: seated dinner or buffet, cocktail style reception, or marina room seated dinner. The seated dinner or buffet option fits 200 people, 300 people in the cocktail style reception, and 70 people in the marina room seated dinner option. |
